    Water resistant board is primarily used in bathrooms but will also be a good choice for any rooms that are prone to high moisture such as a kitchen or hot tub/sauna area.

    The fireboard drywall is required in mechanical rooms or in areas where high heat can occur and this is the best option for safety.

    The 1/2 and 5/8 inch width are the common standard drywall boards. Walls with a 16" center frame use the standard 1/2 inch drywall. If the wall is a 24" center framing 5/8 inch drywall is highly recommended. Existing drywall surfaces can be recovered with 1/4 inch drywall but it is not recommended for single layer jobs.

   Drywall requires taping and mudding, which is the next step after the boards are screwed on. Good drywallers have to be experienced in taping, as this is what hides the joints and screws holes to make a smooth surface finish.
